Meet Charity.

Charity Marcus is an entrepreneur, political strategist, public relations & communication professional, and business consultant who resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As an entrepreneur, Charity is the founder and CEO of Avenu Consulting, a political consulting & government relations firm, Avenu PR, a public relations and branding agency; and Charity Marcus, LLC, a business & entrepreneurship consulting firm. She is also the co-founder of Black Women Business Owners of America, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, business association that supports black women entrepreneurs.

As a political strategist, Charity has helped many political candidates run for office, most of whom are now serving their communities as elected officials. Through her unique perspectives, ability to connect with communities, and powerful intuition, she is able to effectively get her candidate’s message across and connect them with voters. As a public relations and communication professional, Charity helps businesses and brands reach & connect with their target audiences, protect their brands, and increase brand awareness. She deploys innovative perspectives with strategic communications to get her clients the media and community attention they deserve.

As a business & entrepreneurship consultant, Charity has helped many entrepreneurs and business owners gain clarity in their businesses, develop effective business strategies and navigate starting their businesses the RIGHT way. In September 2020, Charity launched the economic development division. This division will focus on assisting public and private institutions with strategic guidance in equitable, community economic development.

Having founded multiple businesses over the course of her life, Charity now uses her experiences, knowledge and skill sets to advocate for economic development and entrepreneurship in the African American community. Partnering up with another black women entrepreneur in Tulsa, Charity co-founded Black Women Business Owners of America. Their mission is to assist African American women business owners in the Tulsa metropolitan area with receiving the resources and connections needed to have a successful business.

Although Charity wears many professional hats, she continues her passion to better the community as a community advocate. Over the course of her advocacy, Charity has served organizations such as the Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) as an associate board member, League of Women Voters of Tulsa as a board member and board president, help found the Black Wall Street Chamber of Commerce, assisted in creating & launching the Summer Entrepreneurship Shadow Program by State Senator Kevin Matthews, and Tulsa Juneteenth as a board member just to name a few.

Currently, Charity serves as a committee member on the Oklahoma Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights, and serves as a member on the Governor's Minority Business Council, a council started under the current Oklahoma Governor, Kevin Stitt, to create programming to educate business and community leaders on business case diversity and inclusion for the state of Oklahoma. Charity also is a Board of Director for Leadership Tulsa and Teach Not Punish. Charity is a Leadership Tulsa (Class 52) and Leadership Bixby alum (Class 13).
